Northwest Wanderings: Le Bistro Montage

The weekend was spent feathering the new nest. Saturday morning we went grocery shopping, took a trip to Lowe's for shelving supplies, and made yet another visit to the bliss that is The Container Store. {We should just buy stock in the blessed establishment. "P0rnganization" is my drug of choice.}

That afternoon, I again celebrated the fact that I married an sublimely handsy um, handy man as he orchestrated the hanging of copious amounts of shelves of garage shelving. Well hung indeed. We unpacked more boxes than you can shake a stick at, and The Stuff is all crammed beautifully into a functional, organized space. One more to-do in our transition to apartment living, checked off the list!

But the crowning glory of this busy-bee day, dear folks, was our dinner date...

We discovered where we're going to take you when you come to visit us.

Our first Table For Two foray into Northwestern cuisine did not disappoint. Tucked in a veritable warren of warehouses and waterfront graffiti is a little gem of the dining world. Le Bistro Montage is a bustling place where one is seated elbow-to-elbow with the neighbors at community tables. The waitstaff was friendly and had great recommendations. The waterglasses were topped off religiously {quite a feat for the one who tends to our table, as my Husby downs his water like a fish}. Our food was middling-good to super; I had a blend of old-fashioned and spicy macaroni & cheese {"Spold", they've lovingly christened it} that had great flavor but was a bit overcome by the chili pepper. Bart's selection easily won; he had a gorgeous ham-and-pesto mac & cheese.

We forgot to document the actual gastronomic delights in the photoessay, but one fun parlor trick has me promising to take all our relatives here, particularly the youthful ones...when you send your leftovers back to the kitchen for packing up, you receive your own personalized foil creation.

Behold my awesome lily, complete with stamen-thingy:

And the knight in shining armor received a bona-fide rad sword. The thing was easily 3 feet long.

I miss Denver with all my heart, but Portland definitely scored points with this little shop of tasties. Come visit soon; we have to go back and check out the jambalayas!

I have so much to respond to this I don't know where to begin. Is it the hung comment, the handsy comment, the stamen thingy. It's good to hear your voice again. Miss your stinkin' guts!
